None of this is insurance-covered on the front end. HSA and FSA eligibility depends on your plan administrator and on whether the scan is coded as elective screening, which it usually is. The gaps are as important as the coverage. Annual repeat scanning is commonly marketed and rarely justified for an average-risk adult with a clean baseline. Because MRI carries no radiation, the argument against repeating is not safety — it is yield. A second scan on an unchanged asymptomatic body finds less than the first did, while the probability of surfacing a fresh benign finding stays roughly flat. Repeating annually therefore raises your lifetime exposure to workups, not to radiation.
